What is the 'Camera Sentry'?

It is a security camera system that automatically tracks targets and takes high resolution (14M) images and video (720p), 24/7.

How is this better than a regular security camera?

Regular security cameras don't provide nearly enough detail to identify someone. They can tell you what happened and when but don't provide much help for figuring out who did it. The system we've designed is essentially the same thing as if there was a person standing guard 24/7 with a digital camera in his hand. Our software analyzes the video feed from an overview camera. When a valid target is detected the software sends commands back to the zoom camera mounted right below it that tell it where to aim and when to either record video or take a picture. We have been prototyping this system for about 3 years. See the video below for an example of its operation.

What is included?

We can provide this unit in any level of completion from just the pan/tilt hardware all the way up to the same system seen in the video. The system seen in the video with everything you may need but the PC would be under $1k. The only other comparable system costs roughly $10k but has poorer image quality. This has recently been improved so that it is less expensive and fully automated (no need to delete pics off of the SD card, no need for a trigger servo, etc.) Right now this new design is in testing to ensure correct long-term functionality.
